Volkan Oezdemir is a man on a hot streak with two first-round knockouts in the last five months.

The Swiss light heavyweight only made his promotional debut in February of this year, but he’s already marched his way into third in the rankings at 205-pounds.

His last two wins over Misha Cirkunov and Jimi Manuwa have come in a combined 72-seconds and helped him live up to his nickname of “No time.”

Speaking exclusively to MMAUNO.com earlier this week, Oezdemir explained where the nickname originated from.

“It came from my Denmark fights where I competed in a tournament that had three fights in one night,” Oezdemir said.

“I finished all my fights in the first minute, so that’s how it started with all my friends joking.

“After the Misha [Cirkunov] fight we started joking again and saying that I was like my old self.

“Also before the fight with OSP I was like nowhere, then I went into the top-10, then I fought Misha and I was top-5, now after Manuwa I’m top-3.

“My rise to the top has been really fast and I want to be the fastest person ever to rise to the belt. That’s why I’ve got the nickname No Time.”

Oezdemir’s rapid ascension hasn’t gone unnoticed by the MMA fanbase. He recently took part in a ‘Ask Me Anything’ (AMA) on the MMA section of the Reddit online forum.

He seemingly enjoyed his time answering the fans’ questions.

“Yeah definitely, I get a lot interest and actually, talking of a really cool fanbase, I went on Reddit and I did an AMA,” Oezdemir said.

“That was actually really funny and that was my first time on Reddit and I didn’t really know the application before that.

“And I guess I just started enjoying it and I think I have cool attention right now and cool fans.”
