Gegard Mousasi defeated Alexander Shlemenko last evening in his Bellator MMA debut, but he was pushed to the wire in what turned out to be a highly competitive fight between the two.

The Dutch middleweight looked to have the measure of the Russian in round one, but Shlemenko fought back in the second and many watching on felt that he may have done enough to pip the round on the cards.

In round three, it was all Shlemenko and he landed a bomb of a left hand to completely close Mousasi’s right eye. The fight went the distance and a close fight was left in the hands of the judges.

All three scored the contest 29-28 to Mousasi.
