In just 8 days time, Combate Clásico will take place in Mana Wynwood, Miami and it’s been billed as the biggest Combate Americas fight card of all time.

In the build up to fight night, are going to be taking you through the fight card and letting you know what’s on the line in each and every single fight

Today, we take a look at the featherweight bout between Chris Avila vs. Ricky Palacios.

The Newcomer vs. The Combate Americas Veteran

A fighter well known for his “action packed” fighting style, Ricky “El Gallero” Palacios (8-1), has become one of the rising stars in Combate Americas, not only for his warrior’s heart, but for his well-rounded game.

On July 27, the Texas native will again have a hard challenge to overcome at Combate Clásico, where he’ll face Chris Avila (5-4), an athlete whose last two fights came under the UFC promotional banner.

Palacios has a five win streak over two years, with three decisions and two KO’s. Four of those five wins came inside the Combate Americas and he will now be looking to prove that he can hang with the best fighters in the world when he takes on one of Stockton’s finest.

Avila comes into the bout with plenty to prove himself and coming off consecutive decisions losses against Conor McGregor’s training partner Artem Lobov and Enrique Barzola.

His mentor, Nate Diaz, preaches that Avila has great boxing skills and good cardio, but we’ve yet to see Avila’s best on the big stage.

Next weekend, both men have a lot to gain, but also a lot to lose.

Will Palacios’s win streak continue? Or will Avila get his first win in over twelve months?

It’s all eyes on Combate Clásico in Miami on July 27 for the answer.
