It was officially revealed by the UFC last evening that Condit will take on Neil Magny at UFC 219 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the T-Mobile Arena.
Condit (30-10) has been out over a year following two successive losses to both Robbie Lawler at UFC 195 and then Demian Maia at UFC on Fox 21. Following his loss to the Brazilian, Condit implied that he wished to retire, but he then never made any official announcement. Condit then proceeded to spend to lie low for the next 13 months, but over the past few weeks he started posting pictures of himself training again at Jackson Winkeljohn in Albuquerque. Following his text to Shelby two weeks ago, rumours started doing the rounds as to who he would fight when he returns. Last night on social media it was revealed that Magny was the man who got the nod.
Magny (19-6) has been a very busy fighter over the past few years and has won four of his last seven fights. Magny most competed on the UFC 215 last month when he was defeated by former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. Prior to that he had recorded wins over Johny Hendricks, Hector Lombard, Kelvin Gastelum and Erick Silva in between losses to Lorenz Larkin and Demian Maia.
Condit vs Magny joins Carla Esparza x Cynthia Calvillo, Dominick Cruz x Jimmie Rivera and Matheus Nicolau x Louis Smolka.
