The Mayweather vs McGregor ‘Money Fight’ hasn’t lived up to expectations, not on the gate taking anyway.

Jed I. Goodman reported this morning that the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) have released the gate takings for the Mayweather vs McGregor fight which took place on September 26. After saying for weeks that the gate was trending well over the record set by the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight in 2015.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao sold 16,219 tickets generating a gate revenue of $72,198,500 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

It was reported today that Mayweather vs McGregor generated a gate revenue of $55,414,865.79 having sold 13,094 tickets.

There’s been no official word on the amount of pay-per-views sold worldwide, but Stephen Espinoza, Showtime Sports Executive, explained on The MMA Hour yesterday that they were currently in the region of 4.5 million pay-per-views buys and that they were trending to break the Mayweather vs Pacquiao record.

Time will tell, but for the minute at least, the first official reading from the Mayweather vs McGregor fight hasn’t done quite what we all expected.
