What a crazy series of events to kick off UFC 216 this evening.

30-minutes before the UFC Fight Pass preliminary bouts were due to start at 23:30 BST, the UFC announced that Derrick Lewis had pulled out of his bout with Fabricio Werdum due to a recurrence of his back injury.

The broadcast was then delayed by 30-minutes due to the fight being cancelled and when it finally went to air at 00:00 BST, UFC play-by-play commentator Jon Anik announced that Walt Harris had been offered and accepted a fight with Fabricio Werdum.

Mark Godbeer, who was due to fight Harris in the main event of the UFC Fight Pass prelims was left as the odd man out and it appears he will now no longer fight at UFC 216.

in a brief exchange of messages with MMAUNO.com, Godbeer said:

“They’ve cancelled my fight. They told me I was main card, then came in thirty minutes later and cancelled it completely.”

Godbeer then confirmed that he is being reimbursed his full purse (show/win) for his troubles.

He said he’s expecting to be rebooked on an upcoming fight card.
