It has been confirmed this morning that Mamed Khalidov will not be fighting under the UFC banner at UFC Fight Night Gdansk on October 21.
Last Friday, MMAUNO.com reported that the KSW middleweight champion was in talks with the UFC for a blockbuster showdown with former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida who is eligible to return to active competition on October 8 following an 18-month ban from USADA.

Khalidov’s purse demands were always going to be the stumbling block for the dream fight going ahead and it appears that the two parties didn’t come to terms.
Speaking on his Facebook page this morning, Khalidov denied the rumours that he would be fighting on UFC Gdansk and instead he confirmed his attendance at KSW’s fight card taking place in Dublin Ireland on October 22.
“Hello everyone, I’d like to deny rumours that I have to fight at the UFC in Gdańsk. At that time I’m going to be in Ireland at the gala KSW 40. Greetings.”
We have since confirmed with a KSW spokesperson that Khalidov will attend KSW 40 as a guest fighter and right now there no plans for him to fight on the card.
It was a nice dream while it lasted.
