The news has been a while coming, but the confirmation is finally here; Karolina Kowalkiewicz will feature on the upcoming UFC Fight Night 188 fight card in Gdansk, Poland on October 21.
Kowalkiewicz (10-2) will take on 31-year-old Jodie Esquibel (6-2) at the Ergo Arena.
Esquibel will be getting her second shot in the following an unsuccessful attempt to join the organization on the Season 23 The Ultimate Fighter series where she lost to Ashley Yoder. She has since fought under the Invicta FC banner where she has lost to Alex Grasso, but then won her last fight against DeAnna Bennett. Esquibel was expected to fight at Invicta FC 25 last week, but she pulled out of the fight citing an injury.

The American will jump right into the deep end of the UFC’s 115-pounds division when she faces the former title contender, Kowalkiewicz. The Pole is currently on a two fight losing streak having lost to Joanna Jędrzejczyk at UFC 205 and then Claudia Gadelha at UFC 212. Prior to that Kowalkiewicz had beaten Randa Markos, Heather Clark and Rose Namajunas in the UFC.
Kowalkiewicz joins other Poles on the card such as Marcin Held, Demian Stasiak, Jan Blachowicz, Oskar Piechota and Adam Wieczorek.
