It’s safe to say, it’s heating up in New York and it’s not just the temperature outside that’s on the rise.

Last evening, James Gallagher and Aaron Pico were involved in a verbal confrontation in the fighter hotel, just days ahead of the Bellator NYC and Bellator 180 double-header on Saturday.

Speaking today at the Bellator 180 media day, Gallagher explained from his point of view, how and why the situation developed.

“Yeah, there were these juiced-up steroid heads just sitting there and they’d been accusing of my of like running or some s*it on Twitter,” Gallagher said. So I walked up to them and I said, ‘I’m not running anywhere,’ and then the guy’s coach or his dad, or some s*it, he was like an 80-year-old man. I thought he was going to pull his back out jumping off his seat, but he jumped up looking for a scrap. That was basically about it. The security guard came over. It was basically some old man trying to have a scrap with me and I think that sums up the whole thing.”

Someone wanting to pick a fight with him is nothing to Gallagher. He’s been the target of many a man in the Bellator ranks already, but it doesn’t seem to be something that’s overly bother the man from Strabane.

“No, it gives me pride,” Gallagher said, when asked if the constant callouts were a distraction. “They all want what I’ve got and I don’t know what it is the f*ck that I’ve got, but they all want it because I don’t have the belt yet. That’s what I’m after, I want the belt. I don’t know what they want, but they want what I’ve got and I want the belt. If they don’t have the belt, they’re not in my way.”
