It’s been a long time coming, but John ‘The One’ Maguire is back in the mix and will headline Rise of Champions 4 on September 30 again Shah Hussain.
Maguire (24-9) was last in action back at KSW 37 when he was defeated by the KSW welterweight champion, Borys Mankowksi in December 2016. Prior to that, Maguire had been on a helluva run with wins over Alexandre Roumette, Aymard Guih, Vincent del Guerra, Colin Fletcher and Kieran Malone. The former UFC man will now look to return to winning ways in September, but if he’s to do that he will have to take out Hussain who will not be turning up just to roll over

Hussain (11-11) has won his last three fights with victories over Jack Scott, Ajmal Fraji and Sami Berik. “No Pain” has been in the cage with some of the most recognizable names in UK MMA including Jack Mason, Tom Breese, Dean Amasinger and Martin Stapleton, but each time he’s fallen short. On September 22, he gets another opportunity to take a big scalp.
Speaking on his One Punch Podcast this week, ROC Co-Founder Brad Pickett said he was excited to see this bout come together.
“John Maguire ‘Gypsy jiu-jitsu’ vs. Shah Hussain is the headliner,” Pickett said. “He [Shah] has been on a bit of a tear recently, he’s won his last three fights I believe. So it’s going to be a good fight.
“He’s a veteran, he’s been about a long time and he trains at a great gym, Team Crossface with Brett Lee. He will bring a good crowd with him because Brentwood isn’t too far from where he trains so yeah I’m expecting a great atmosphere.”
