One of the more heated rivalries in Brazilian jiu-jitsu will reignite this weekend when Dillon Danis looks to get revenge against Garry Tonon.

The two first clashed back in 2015 when Tonon submitted Danis via inside heel hook in the first round of the ADCC tournament. Ever since then, the two have continued to clash back and forth over social media, but not they’ve not faced each other since Tonon’s win in 2015.

This weekend the two will meet once again in the main event of Polaris 5. Anyone thinking that the rivalry is simply all posturing may want to check out the first episode of the Polaris 5 Prologue.

Danis speaks candidly about his rivalry with Tonon and how he’s relishing getting his revenge on Saturday night.

“I took it pretty hard,” Danis says. “I’ve been thinking about that match ever since, there’s not been a day that’s gone by when I haven’t thought about that match. I’ve dreamed about that match and I know what it’s going to take to come back and avenge my loss. Nothing really changes, he’s just become more of a bitch, that’s the only thing that’s really changed you know. I’m a different animal than I was then.

“I was still an animal back then, but now I’m going to f*ck him up really bad.”
