Well this came out of nowhere–UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has taken to social media this evening and sent a threat in the direction of former UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir.

Speaking via Twitter, Cormier threatened to kick Mir’s ass next time they cross paths:

Cormier is yet to explain what triggered him to threaten to Mir, but online have people have suggested it may have something to do with Mir’s recent comments on his “Phone Booth Fighting” podcast that he co-hosts with Richard Hunter.

Speaking back on July 31 after Cormier was knocked out by Jon Jones at UFC 214, Mir stated on the podcast that it was ok for men to show emotion, but that he thought it was “Unacceptable” for Cormier to cry in the Octagon in the public eye after the defeat.

The two of course clashed in the Octagon back in 2013 when they fought on the UFC on Fox 7 card. Cormier went on to win via a unanimous decision and the two since then have for the most part stayed out of each others paths.

Mir recently revealed that he’d signed for Bellator MMA and would be targeting a return in April 2018 when his two-year USADA ban had past. For the minute at least, all eyes are on Mir to see if he has any response for Cormier.
