Changes to Combate Clásico’s main card keep coming like bursts of sunshine. Now, Argentinian Marcelo Rojo and Puerto Rican Billy Molina will face each other at catchweight.
Rojo and Molina were originally scheduled to have a bantamweight bout (135), but earlier this week, at Molina’s request, the bout was changed to a 140 pounds catchweight fight. However, yesterday afternoon was celebrated the official weigh-ins of Combate Clásico, and Molina (140.5 lbs) missed weight (previously agreed on Tuesday) by half a pound above the limit. Rojo made 139.4 pounds and was under the boundaries.

This leaves much to say about Molina, as Rojo had several problems to get to Miami, including visa problems and even so, the Argentine managed to arrive the same day of the weigh-ins, finished his weight cut and got the job done.
We’ve received no update as to whether Molina will be fined a percentage of his fight purse, and the match is now settled at 140.5 pounds catchweight.
Unfortunately for Combate Americas, this card has undergone drastic changes in recent weeks and we’ll have to wait until tonight’s event to know how will develop.
