The co-main at Combate Clásico is shaping up to be something very special as Kyra Batara and Vanesa Rico prepare to go toe-to-toe in the Combate Americas ‘La Jaula’ cage,
It will be the third ever women’s fight in the promotion and it looks sets to have fireworks aplenty with both women going back and forth over social media in the past few weeks and the bad blood evident between the two.
Straight after the announcement of the fight, Batara made it perfectly clear to Rico that she was looking forward to fighting Rico and the Eddie Bravo protégé didn’t mince her words.
“It’s no secret there’s bad blood between us and I am excited to ‘bring the heat’ to Miami and ignite a ‘Fight of the Night’ performance on such a grand stage,” Batara said. “Being from Las Vegas, I don’t like to gamble, but if there’s one thing I’m willing to bet on, it’s myself.”
The two were set to face each other in the Combate Americas 11 main event, but Batara missed weight badly and the fight was scrapped. Rico’s debut on US soil was postponed and that’s not something that sat well with the woman from Alicante, Spain.
“I was really looking forward to fighting for Combate in February but unfortunately, Kyra robbed me of that chance with her unprofessional behaviour by missing weight,” Rico said. “I hope that Kyra comes ready this time because I am very motivated to show the world who I am. I’ve waited so long now to get in the cage at Combate, it’s my time!”
Rico’s words certainly looked to have lit a fire under Batara and the American has been posting several videos every week showing her working hard in the gym and ever at home where she trains with brother, Dominic Batara.
It promises to be a feisty affair and yet another showdown at Combate Clasico you won’t want to miss.
