It was a night of drama at Madison Square Garden last evening as Bellator 180 and Bellator NYC took place in New York.

Here’s how the winners reacted following their fights.

Zach Freeman d. Aaron Pico via submission (guillotine choke) at 0:24 of Round 1
“I told you I’d shock the world and that’s exactly what I did. When you truly believe in something and have faith, anything can happen. I believed and I always had faith and this was just the outcome of my hard work. No one really gave me much attention this week. I didn’t get much love from the media, not a lot of interviews, but hey, I won and now that’s all that matters. I’m looking forward to getting back to the gym and working on my next fight. I told Pico after the fight that he’s young and he’ll eventually be a champion…I’m old and I guess now is my time.”  – Zach Freeman

Matt Mitrione d. Fedor Emelianenko via KO at 1:14 of Round 1
“I just want to tell you Fedor is so smart. That dude has crazy high fight IQ. I could literally see him calculating my every move in there, just watching his eyes calculating is crazy. He’s the greatest to ever do it and just having the opportunity to step in there and trade blows with him is crazy. I’m very fortunate, but at the same time I think I made the most of that opportunity. I’m just still in awe of Fedor’s cage intelligence. Amazing.”   – Matt Mitrione

Brent Primus d. Michael Chandler via TKO (injury) at 2:22 of Round 1 to win Bellator lightweight championship
“It’s a dream come true right now. I feel like I’m on top of the world. This is all of the sacrifices I’ve made, all the time away from my family, all the injuries combined makes this moment so special to me. I trained my butt off and this is what it’s all about in the end. Like I told Chandler months ago, I’m going to beat you and I’m going to give him a rematch after. I’m going to let my body recover and rest up but then I’m 100% up for a rematch.”   – Brent Primus

Douglas Lima d. Lorenz Larkin via unanimous decision to retain Bellator welterweight championship
“It’s amazing to be fighting in such a big show and in my first trip to the Garden. It’s such an honor for me to get the win over such a tough opponent in this arena. I’m excited for the future and looking forward to defending the title against Rory. I just have to heal up the body a little bit and prepare for Rory. I’m ready to take on all the big names now.”   – Douglas Lima

Ryan Bader d. Phil Davis via split decision to win Bellator light heavyweight championship
“Phil is one of the best in the world for a reason, so to come out of here with the win feels good. The fight really didn’t go the way I wanted it to and the way we planned, but I can’t complain because not too many guys beat Phil Davis. It certainly wasn’t the most exciting fight, but I got the job done and who knows, maybe we’re gunna see this fight sometime again soon. I joined Bellator for one reason only, to train my butt off and to win this belt.” – Ryan Bader

James Gallagher d. Chinzo Machida via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:22 of Round 1
“I’m absolutely thrilled. I prepared for a first round finish and made it happen. The same way you all came out here tonight and expected to watch the fight or prepared to interview me, I expected to win and to do it in the first round. I just got off the phone with my dad and I’m just looking forward to see him and get some of that home cooked food. Like I said before, this is only the beginning and I’m already looking ahead to my next fight.”   – James Gallagher

Ryan Couture d. Haim Gozali via unanimous decision
“The experience of fighting in MSG is incredible. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I could just feel the history and the energy. As for the fight itself, i think everything went according to plan. Everything that we focused on in camp came into play. We knew that he was a ground specialist and I was able to nullify some of his strong points. He had me in a little trouble with that kneebar attempt but he was a little shallow and I got away. Other than that, I felt like I was in control the whole time. All in all, fantastic night and fantastic results.”   – Ryan Couture

Bradley Desir d. Nate Grebb via KO at 2:54 of Round 1
“I’m very happy with my performance. I’m usually a slow starter and the second round is usually where I make my mark. We worked on getting off to a faster start during my camp, so I think that was really important. Now I’m just looking forward to celebrating this win…I’m so excited and still trying to soak it all in as I walk around backstage. All I have to say is that I want to fight again for bellator, so Bellator please put me back out there let’s do it again!” – Bradley Desir

Anthony Giacchina d. Jerome Mickle via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:40 of Round 3
“This is my second fight in the Garden. I also fought here back in 2014. First ever MMA fights here and I won that fight too. I was an amateur back then and did what i had to do. Tonight, I came in as a more experienced fighter and it was more of the same for me. My wife, my two sisters, my in-laws and much more family are here in attendance, so it felt very good to put on a show for all of them. I couldn’t be happier right now.”  – Anthony Giacchina

Heather Hardy d. Alice Yauger via TKO at 4:47 of Round
“I think I just fell in love…I’m hooked. I’m so happy right now. I can’t feel it, but I have stiches in my face. I just worked so hard for this and a lot of people thought I couldn’t do it and to do it feels so incredible. I will never leave boxing, but I’m definitely excited to get back in the gym and work on my game and learn more tricks to show off in the cage”.   – Heather Hardy

Matt Rizzo d. Sergio da Silva via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 3:48 of Round 3
“Fighting inside the Garden is amazing. I’m from a small town in Pennsylvania right outside of Philadelphia, so this is a pretty big deal. My opponent came in strong, came in a bit overweight, so I knew I had my hands full and took care of business. I got him in a nice arm choke and finished him in the third round.” – Matt Rizzo

Hugh McKenna d. John Salgado via submission (kimura) at 4:06 of Round 1
“It went as good as I could’ve hoped. Training camp went really well. The gameplan was to stalk him down, pepper him with shots until we got the takedown and go for the submission from there. I’m primarily a grappling guy, so when we got into a grappling battle I was pretty happy. Fighting in the Garden is the craziest experience of my life…I’m all jacked up on Mountain Dew right now! It’s just a very surreal experience right now.”  – Hugh McKenna
