Lando Vannata will no longer fight Abel Trujillo at UFC 216

Trujillo was booked to face Lando Vannata at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, but following an injury to Trujillo, Bobby Green will now steup up to fight Vannata on October 7. The UFC announced the change on Monday but no further details were given.

Green is currently riding a losing streak following losses to Edson Barboza, Dustin Poirier and Rashid Magomedov respectively. The American does know what it’s like to taste victory under the UFC banner though and prior to that he had been on a four fight winning streak.

Like Green, Vannata’s UFC career got off to an explosive start when he debuted against Tony Ferguson in July 2016. Vannata came out on the losing side that evening, but he won plenty of fans over with his performance and he went on to claim one of the knockouts of the year in his next fight when he landed an oustanding spinning wheel kick on John Makdessi at UFC 206.

The Jackson-Winkeljohn man looked destined to march his way into the top-15 at 155-pounds, but in his one and only fight in 2017 he was defeated by David Teymur at UFC 209.

Suffice to say, both Green and Vannata will be looking to get back on track at UFC 216.
